Afternoon Tea Engagement Party

This weekend has been amazing. Yesterday afternoon was spent with Laura wandering around Margate Old Town and having lunch at the Cupcake Cafe. We went to a new vintage shop that opened 4 months ago, last time I was in there I spotted the most beautiful Burberry mac, but when I went back yesterday it was gone! However, I did spy a lovely vintage brown school satchel, it had drawings inside it from it's previous owner many years ago, and since I have been looking for the perfect satchel for a while now, without spending more than £45 I had to buy it!

Today was our engagement party, I had been a little nervous about this, but Jason is super chill and so I think his laid back approach rubbed off on me a little (thankfully). It was hosted at Jason's mum's house, and everything was so perfect. Carole went to so much trouble, as you can see from all the photos. We kept it fairly small, just family and a few of our closest friends. Carole and Steve (Jason's mum and step dad) had put up a marquee in their garden, I went over this morning to help out and could not believe everything that Carole had made (from scratch). Lemon drizzle cake, creme and jam puffs, profiteroles, strawberry cheesecake, caramel slices, mini lemon meringue pies, strawberry lemonade and so much more. The house was full of amazing tea sets too! I helped to set a few things up and then went back home to make myself look half decent. All of my family came over to mine and Jason's house first, as many of them hadn't seen it before and they were keen to have a look around. I was worried because the house was not quite how I wanted it to be and everyone loved it and commented on how big they thought it was. I think I forget how how big it is sometimes, its not huge but it has quite a few rooms.

We decided to walk to Jason's mum's house inbetween rain showers, but unfortunaly we got caught in the rain and arrived looking like drowned rats! I was a bit stressed/worried, but the sun came back out and everyone spent most of the afternoon in the garden drinking tea and eating finger sandwiches and cakes. It was the first time that our families have met and I'm so happy with the way it all went. It was quite overwhelming and I have come away feeling incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful family (and future family) and such amazing friends. Thank you to everyone who came (if you read this). <3

Here are some photos from this afternoon:

We were also very lucky to get some wonderful gifts, which took us completely by surprise as we were not expecting anything.

P.S My nan also told me about a lady she knows who's Schnauzer has recently had puppies!!!!
I feel like it's meant to be, I think I need to talk Jason round to the idea. I have always wanted a Schnauzer, they are just so cute. If anyone out there has a Schnauzer I'd love to hear from you, about their temperament, etc.
